2010 PROGRAMS

Through simple, basic lessons and proper supervision of regulation competitive baseball, Northbridge Cal Ripken Baseball teaches skills, mental and physical development, and the basic ideals of sportsmanship and fair play. In adopting rules, in establishing standards, and in all planning, the primary consideration is the welfare of the children who participate.

FACILITIES and FIELDS

Babe Ruth will be playing at Vail Field in town. The field is next to the Balmer School on Crescent Street.

The Rockdale legion facility is located on Church Ave in Northbridge. Parking is permitted along the road and in the American Legion Parking Lot. There are 2 AA fields and 1 major league field with lights. Games are played every weeknight and all day on Saturdays. On Friday nights parking will be limited to one side of the Legion lot due to Bingo at the American Legion.

The Legion Major League field was completely renovated in 2005 with new grass a new infield and sprinkler systems. The infield was completed with the same surface major league team’s use.

Our AAA field is named Plummer’s Park and is located on Church Street in Whitinsville. Parking is limited to the field side of the street and some of the side roads off of Church St. Please exercise caution around this area as traffic is very heavy during the start of games.

T-Ball is played at the Linwood Fields located on RT 122 in Linwood. Parking is located in front of the basketball courts off of RT 122. We ask that all parents park here instead of surrounding streets as we have had numerous neighbor complaints of not being able to get by all the parked cars. This will be enforced by the police this year.

2010 SEASON

T-Ball. The first introduction to baseball for children age 5-6. The coaches will stress fun and sportsmanship. The goal is to teach the kids the importance of hitting off the tee. Additional "stations" will be set up during the beginning of the season to implement the basic skills of baseball. The games will include the station work and a one inning game. As the season progresses, two inning games can be played if time permits.

AA Division. Children ages 7 and 8. An introduction to real baseball. Each team will only have 9 children out in the field playing real positions with the coach pitching. This is very much an instructional league with the coaches out in the field and on the bases with the kids.

AAA Division. For 9 – 11 year olds. The first competitive league. The kids will be playing real baseball against kids pitching at their own level. Scores and standings are kept and the playoff champion receives trophies at a year end banquet. The teams are created using a draft system for competitive balance. Some rules are modified in this division.

Major League Division.  For 10-12 year olds.  The second most experienced level of Northbridge Cal Ripken Baseball. Players continue to build and refine their skills while they apply game strategy in team competition. Score and standings are kept and the playoff champion and award winners receive trophies at the season ending banquet.

Babe Ruth. Our newest league that will compete in the Tri Valley League. There will be two divisions of teams including a 13 year old division and a 14-16 year old division. We are excited to continue the natural progression of our young athletes to the big diamond!

Important: Returning minor league players who wish to play in the major leagues, and all newcomers, must attend a Player Evaluation.
